The 2009 States went well. I didn’t get any ippons, but its a building process after my ACL surgery. As a whole Bushido Judo School did well. Everybody fought well, and a lot of medals were brought back to the school. I plan on being in a couple more tournaments in November. I should be at weight, and have my speed back.

As you may or may not know, my obsessions are Graphic Design, Art, Judo, and my bike. These 4 things are pretty much what my blogs are going to be about. This post is about the Raleigh Rumble which happened this past weekend. What a great get together. There were some of the most beautiful vintage motorcycles. There were old Hondas, Triumphs, Enfields, Yamahas, BMWs ect. After the bike show everyone drives to Slims to watch some great bands like the Straight 8s, Blood Red River, and Dirty Johnny and the Makebelieves. It was put together by the NC Ton UP and they did a great job. Just being there gave me soo many ideas for my 74 CB 350. I wanted to give a thanks out to Margo from Rocket Betty for the cool keychain, and Amber loved the homemade berets. I also got to meet the fellas at Her Majesty’s Thunder, and they are some cool peeps.
This weekend I have the North Carolina State Judo Championships and I plan on bringing home some hardware. I’ll get a post up here when I get back. Until then Later
I was driving the other day, and pulled up next to a van advertising for a car wrap distributor. I noticed that the background was a photo that was lo res. I wish I could say that this was the first low res image that I have seen in public, but its not.
I don’t know what is going on in the world of graphics where a “piece” gets through all the channels of production, proofing, and printing and some one says yep that looks “good enough”. I remember when I started in design, if a low res image went out, everyone who worked on it would be punished.
I think somewhere down the line of programs making it easier for people to be “designers”, the quality of work has become less important.
Productive Slacker – If you are a Graphic Designer experiencing downtime, I have a fun activity that not only burns time but works on your skills. Grab a photo of one of your co-workers, and “Photoshop” them into a famous band or in a famous photo from history. We used to do this in our Graphic Design Team when the work wasn’t flowing in. It allowed us to have fun and work on our skills. Make sure the co-worker is cool with it and has a sense of humor, because you are going to need it. Good Luck and Have Fun!
